Alturas Antimony Project

Equinox Resources has secured a 12-month option to acquire 100% of the Alturas Antimony Project, a historic high-grade antimony mine in British Columbia’s Slocan Mining Division. The project includes three tenements covering approximately 3 km², with historical production averaging 57.2% Sb and grades reaching up to 59.5% Sb.

Historic Antimony Mine with recent High-Grade sampling confirmed
Outstanding location, Tier 1 mining jurisdiction
Identified exploration potential across open cut and mine adits
Strategic Location to North American market
Permitting underway
High Grade Antimony present across a 1.5km shear zone

Situated 15 km northeast of New Denver, the project lies within the historic Slocan Mining District, known for its silver, lead, zinc, and antimony production. The site features a 1,300-meter-long mineralized zone, with quartz veins hosting stibnite mineralization within a shear zone between metamorphic and serpentine schist rocks. The geological setting, including Jurassic-aged intrusive bodies, enhances the potential for polymetallic deposits. With accessible infrastructure—sealed roads, rail connections, and proximity to the Port of Vancouver—the project is well-positioned for future development.

Historic production ceased over a century ago

The historic Alps-Alturas Mine was operated by the Alps Mining Company between 1915 to 1926. The mine produced exceptionally high-grade Antimony, with the Alps Mining Company reporting shipped ore that averaged 57.2% Sb, peaking up to 59.5% Sb1 105 tons of high-grade ore, were directly shipped during the operational years including1:

  • 31 tons at 53.28% Sb to Glasgow
  • 26.5 tons at 58.87% Sb to Jersey City Chemical Company
  • 21.5 tons at 59.5% Sb to Chicago smelting/refining company
21st century demand and potential

With global antimony demand rising due to supply constraints and its critical role in batteries and military applications, the Alturas Project aligns with Equinox’s strategy to develop high-value resource assets in secure jurisdictions.
